Home to Asia's last lions, the Gir Forest of India is about the size of Fulton County, and supports 500 lions. Breathtaking footage of Indian coexistence.

California coexistence:

California Bill 132 requires CA wildlife officials and first responders to use non-lethal force when confronted with a mountain lion marooned in a residential setting.

In a Granada Hills, north L.A. incident last week, a young cat's appearance puts a school in lockdown until officials successfully tranquilize and capture him.

Also, compare the Granada Hills cat's running gait to the recent video of a purported cougar in Crown Point.

Maybe Im too much of an amatuer, but I dont see the difference. When the cougar is trotting at one point, it looks exactly like the housecat trotting in the crown point video. Now, when the cougar is at a full run its obviously different, but in the crown point video there is no full run to compare, that housecat is always trotting. I have housecats and when they are at full run its looks similar to a cougar's. I completely realize crown point is not a cougar, Im just saying its real easy to mistake the two, so easy that DECs from many states field calls on sightings that often turn out to be housecats or other animals, many times animals much smaller than cougars

If even experts can't determine the difference, and cougars are in the Northeast, why has just a single, fuzzy photograph from CT emerged anywhere along the eastern seaboard? Why do clear, full-frame, random cougar cam-pics appear consistently in places like the Michigan Upper Peninsula, but not further East?

Appearing in Heart of a Lion's epilogue, Griffith Park L.A. resident P-22 has inspired both a TED Talk and a report on 60 Minutes.
