Drove a ton yesterday. All lakes are still iced up and the small streams are so flooded its hard to even get to them. Took hour trip to champlain tribs. fished a few with no prevail. Saw one salmon caught in plattsburgh but other than that everyone reported no fish. Until the watershed lakes for these rivers melt im afraid the temps wont rise enough to get them feeding.

Had to drive some miles this morning to reset a check engine light so i ventured out towards tupper. There is a small trout pond between tupper and SL and it was iced over almost looked like it was walkable even. Lower saranac was 80% ice all bays solid some spots of open water. Will venture out more tomorrow.

Its raging now. super flooded and high. Still a lot of snow in the mountains that need to melt before it stops. It hasnt even been raining that bad either just from snow melt. We got 42 inches of snow from that storm few weeks back. Its finally gone down here in the lower lands but the mountains are still white. But in a few weeks a lot can happen.

Today, 14 Apr, along Rte 28, White Lake has gray ice coverage. Old Forge pond is open, 4th Lake is totally covered with gray ice/slush. 7th and 8th lakes are clear and open. Raquette Lake is gray ice covered anywhere it can be seen from the road. Blue mountain Lake has heavy looking white snow/ice totally covering shore to shore. Most smaller ponds along the way are still ice covered. Butternut Pond is all clear along Rte 87 near Willsboro. And of course Lake Champlain is totally open.

Beautiful brookie looks to be all of 17" anyways? Heading up on Wednesday, have a good feeling that the smaller ponds will be open. Checked Hoel Pond webcam this morning, and it's completely open, I would think that's a pretty good sign.
