trip report

Just back from a lovely 4 day trip to Little Tupper lake. The lake lived up to it's windy reputation, but my new Colden Nomad handled it well. I had been there 2 times before, but never explored it.

Well, don't just tease us! How about some details?
Did you bushwhack up the steep banks opposite of sites 6-7?
Are the otters still hanging around the outlet of Otter Pond?
Did you poke around Charley Pond outlet? Looks like prime moose territory.
And photos???

sorry

can't figure out how to post pictures. We didn't get all the way to rock pond although I did once on a lila thru trip. Went a little up Charlie outlet. bugs weren't bad except for the ankle biters that attack my bare feet under the seat! We camped on #6. On the windy paddle in the waves were breaking over the rock takeout. My New Nomad has a few more beauty scratches. Us "Geezers" ran out of stream by the afternoon and headed back to camp for refreshments.

Are you on facebook by any chance?
Many of us adkforum members (and other organizations) share our adventures over on that internet website also, where posting photos and sharing with friends & family is much easier & arguably much more enjoyable.

Rich, you were there same time as me! My wife & 2 friends and I started out Sunday on Round Lake, then moved over to Little Tupper on Tuesday and daytripped to Rock Pond Wednesday. Paddled out Thursday morning. You weren't kidding about that wind! Sunday paddling out to Round was pretty bad, and the return trip from Rock Pond on wednesday had us going into a rare wind from the east. Overall, though, not a bad week to be out.

What site did you stay at? We were at #7.

Site # 6. We probable saw each other on the water. I was paddling a green colden Nomad and my friend a yellow kayak.

I did a bit of fishing around #6. I was in the clunky old orange/red Coleman canoe and there was usually a yellow dog riding with me.

Great photos, Turtle!
Very cool Facebook page too, with many folks sharing their paddling adventures in an area of the state that I'm not very familiar with.

sorry,I didn't answer the weight question. 29 1/2#-Paul built my Nomad with a stiff layup-it could have been lighter. It has snakeskin gunnels. Best lake boat I have ever paddled. It was the first time my long time paddling partner had trouble keeping up with me! Also, we stopped ,as always,at the little diner on rt 3 in cranberry lake on the way home. Best food in the ADKs.
