Nice thread to start, wildriver.

It's hard to choose favorites...

1 - HaDeRonDah Wilderness staircase
2 - Pepperbox Pond
3 - Twin Ponds west
4 - Sunshine Pond marsh
5 - Muskrat Pond outlet
6 - Stone Dam (I just had to add this one for contrast!)

#2-5 are all in the Pepperbox
# 6 is in the Black River Wild Forest

Sawtooth range. I don't know if a beaver created the opening but what the heck, I like the picture.

Ahhh, beautiful North Wilmurt, NY, if I'm not mistaken. If so, see my "Constellation Meadows" picture above, which I took last year at the same place. (The name is my own invention, and refers to all the little vlies between Twin Lakes Stream and Cotton Lake, of which this is one.) I was last there on Columbus Day.

Great photos so far, by the way. Let's keep them coming.

I have nothing for the outlet, but I did find this pic of Cotton Lake from when I walked all the way around the shore last year.

Speaking of beaver ponds, this is a beaver skull I found at Twin Lakes last year. Actually, my dog found it, and I took this picture. Look at the size of those teeth!

Going through some files, I came across these two shots from 2004 of a beaver pond near Peaked Mountain, in the Siamese Ponds Wilderness.

Cowboy Beaver

Here's one I surprised early this past summer sunning himself in, of all places, the Cowboy Beaver Meadow, in the Pepperbox. I walked right up to him while he was occupied sunning himself on a rock. When he noticed me he slid into the water but did not dive or swim away. He kept swimming in circles back and forth in front of me, staring up at me as if waiting for me to leave his favorite sun rock.
