Breaking all the rules

Last night was big. My beloved Mets are off to the NLCS against the Cubs. Ironically, my buddy who I'm meeting for a three day trip next week in Pharaoh Lake WA, is a diehard Chicago fan. I was thinking about breaking the "rules" and pack in a small battery radio to try and catch the games at night. Anyone have any insist on what kind of reception I may get in the woods? And what station may carry the game (out of Albany)?

Thanks for help. Let's go Mets!!!!

We use to listen to the playoffs or the World Series out in the canoe at Crane Pond and just float around & fish. I can't remember what station, but it was the only way to get the game to come in clear.

The Mets are on 1230 AM from Glens Falls or the home station of WOR in NY at 710 AM. I know 'cause I like to listen to the Mets lose! Go Cubs!

You can also try 720 AM, WGN in Chicago.

I should point out that I listen to games with ear buds as not to disturb anyone.

You'd probably be in the minority if you didn't bring a radio to Pharaoh Lake- much of the camping that occurs there really isn't backpacking, but rather "car camping with style." There is nothing explicitly wrong with it, provided that the radio is kept low enough that you can't hear it outside your campsite. Remember that sound can travel quite far over the open water, and that many of the campsites on Pharaoh have minimal vegetative screening between the site and the water.

Last time I was at CRF, someone in a popup near the dam had a sportsball game on so loud that we thought it was a live announcer on a mic and PA and wondered what was going on. (It reminded me of another time at forked lake. My wife and i were camping there off-season, maybe a week or two after labor day, and we woke up to loud music, and heard an announcer on a PA and the water was full of canoes and kayaks. They were all numbered, and everyone was yelling back and forth to each other. Apparently, there was a big race of some sort scheduled for that morning that we weren't aware of. As we came in, the announcer asked, "What's your number?" I just laughed, and said, "No number. Just us.")

I suppose that I have to be the curmudgeon. Every site needs one. ))
I have never felt the need to bring electronic disturbance with me when camping.
Isn't that why we take such effort to put that world at bay???

Two of my favorite things in this world are the Adirondacks, and postseason baseball. Nothing wrong with enjoying both at the same time.
Like D says, no need for the volume to be loud enough to disturb others.

You go out to the woods to listen to the Mets. Wow.

Do the woods a favor and stay home and live your own life rather than living it vicariously through some pompous, probably brainless (or low IQ) professional athlete.

Do you watch the Kardashians too?

Color me stupid but is this post made as a joke or in all seriousness?

Well one thing is for sure, it was written with more seriousness than it will be taken.

If you can't appreciate this forum for the knowledge, information, insight, or tutelage then you should appreciate it for the humor.
