FWIW, I shared my thoughts here last January:

Visually stunning in IMAX.

Story? S'okay.

Seen it again on TV recently and still have trouble comprehending all of the mumbling coming out of John Fitzgerald's mouth (Tom Hardy's character).

I thought it was really well done, the story was a little less accurate than I had hoped but what Hollywood movie isn't?

A movie about local revolutionary war legend Timothy Murphy could be great, especially if they include and over exaggerate the part where he jumps off Vromans Nose.

The book was better as well as the original motion picture starring Richard Harris:

Have not seen the richard harris version yet but i plan to. And yes, there are usually one or two fitzgeralds at the watering holes around these parts, and the best thing you can do is just nod your head in agreement when speaking with them.

Sucked big time. The Richard Harris version was a winner.

Yeah Tom Hardy would've had my vote for 'Best Villain' for sure!
