Harvest Moon - Take Friday Off

Conditions are looking real nice for the Harvest Moon. Take Friday off, tell the boss I said it was ok, and get to a good viewing spot. Carpe Diem!

I was just yesterday telling MDB that the Harvest Moon was coming up.
It reminded me of the inaugural "Dads and kids only" wilderness trip I did back in the '90's. My nephew brought a small telescope with us to Lake Lila, and we watched the rising harvest moon through it. Everyone on that trip still has vivid memories of that exact moment!

A great time to be out and watching the night sky...

My wife and I planned a hike in the HP's friday and a car camping overnight at South Meadows Rd. The forecast looks good. The moon will rise due east I presume. We don't have a telescope but we do have binos.

I'm up early packing up the truck to head on up to the Adirondacks...got a clear sky & a slight cool breeze, and that moon is absolutely gorgeous!
Enjoy the weekend, all!

Best app I have found so far is called LunaSolCal Mobile. I don't know if it's available for iPhone, but I have it for my Android device. The widget gives you sunrise/set moonrise/set,% full and waxing or waning in a simple clean widget.

If you tap the widget it opens the app and you change your location and advance or retard to any date to see sun and Moon data.

Also, it's as cheap as free!
