Jabe pond access

Was looking to take my canoe back to Jabe Pond in a few weeks, last I was there, there was a gate up and the dirt road access was closed. Has anyone been back to Jabe recently to verify access on that dirt road and have they improved the one steep rocky area of the road???

According to the DEC web site here:

the Jabe Pond rd is open and was resurfaced by the town of Hague (4/12). Always good to get confirmation from first hand observation however.

I'm thinking about heading back to Jabe Pond but does anyone know when they close the gate? And or the condition of the road? I was there in August and it was in good shape.

I was just at Jabe on Saturday (5/26). The road is ok for the most part, but there is one pretty rough 70' section that is uphill on the way in (probably another 1/3 mile to the pond past that spot). It was some major ruts for both right and left side of the vehicle. It would be tough/impossible for a car I think. In the lot I saw trucks, a Rav4 and my Forester. I think most small SUV's can make it, but I'm glad i didn't drive up there with my old Odyessy - that would never have made it!
