  • 1990 Boone & Crockett Record State Bear

Selling record state bear mount $1,000.

I have been very blessed while in the woods while hunting in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York and elsewhere. I am very thankful for the times and experiences that I have had whether I returned with a trophy from God's creation or with only a memory of having been with them for a while.

The mounts that I am selling such as this New York State Record Black Bear taken in 1990 (on my birthday none the less) have to be sold because my father moved to N.C. and they were all displayed in his log home. His cathedral ceiling allowed them a very nice place for some years but I haven't the space for them.

The bear is a real trophy in every respect. It was offically scored a record 21 1/2" after the required drying time. The Boone & Crocket Club then verified it's authentisity and issued both a certificate and included it in the clubs Offical North American All Time Records Book. At the time of inclusion into this prestigious collection of wildlife trophies the bear ranked as the 49th largest ever taken in North America, and that included Canada, Mexico and the United States.

This bear has also been recognized by the National Rifle Association with it's acclaimed Leather Stocking Award, New York State's Big Buck & Big Bear Contest to name few others that have appreciated it's uniqueness.

The bear was a local curiosity as the papers and magazines featured articles detailing the hunt. These are available as well...the story of the "Record Whale of a Birthday Bear" should remain with this mount.

The mount was professionally done by Danny Jandreau, Lake Champlain Taxidermy. Since Danny finished it has been carefully displayed and cleaned as required and remains in excellent condition.

I can not state strongly enough how special and very rare such a mount is. The right home or camp will be fortunate to add such a trophy.

I am listing it locally and have had some serious inquiries already and so I do reserve the right to sell at my discretion if the right price and home presents itself.

As for shipping, that will be done by the local Mailboxes Etc. or UPS service at the buyers expense including the necessary insurance to cover the value of this rare and irreplaceable treasure. I will not charge any additional fees for my delivery to the shipping location nor will I consider shipping without this full value insurance coverage!

The mount does not do it justice as no one around could find a mount big enough to fit the bears actual size. You can read about it here:

Interesting story. You may also want to try talking with Bass Pro, Gander Mt. or Cabela's. I've heard they are very interested in unique, trophy mounts. Good luck!

Definitely check with Cabelas, as from what I understand, they will be opening a new store in the Buffalo area in 2014. Personally, I think your price is a little low, as most taxidermists today would charge in the range of $1500.00 just to do a mount like that.
