ADK Wilderness Camp

Planning on staying at the ADK Loj Wilderness Camp this summer as a base for some high peaks hiking. Any recommendations for particularly nice/quiet campsite numbers?

The whole campground tends to be quiet but generally speaking, I'd try to get something away from the High Peaks Information Center (HPIC) if you can. If you're up for a lean-to, the ones on or near the shore of Heart Lake are pretty nice (although you can't drive right up to them- there's a bit of a walk to get to the lean-to).

not to hijack, but do you know if you need your own Bear Canisters in the Wilderness Campsites at the LOJ or do they have those big metal containers?

Bear canisters are not required in the Heart Lake wilderness campground and no storage containers are provided. The recommendation is to leave all food in your vehicle.

Check on you reservations soon, if they're nearly full, make 'em now.
