While looking for something else, I stumbled across this old photo in the Adirondack Museum archives of horseback riders and their horses crossing the Cold River. It's a bit tricky to place the exact location, but I'd guess that they are on the Petty Cutoff. Funny enough, the photo is credited to Clarence Petty himself.
