Morrison Trail-Allegheny National Forest

https://endlessmountains.wordpress.c...tional-forest/

A 14 mile loop on the Morrison and Black Bear Trails, which is a new trail. The Morrison Trail has been relocated in places. Giant boulders, laurel in bloom, and cascading streams made this a great hike. I particularly liked a new section that entered a cove with hemlocks and massive, mossy boulders. It was beautiful.

Good stuff! Especially enjoyed the sunset pics from Rimrock Overlook. I was originally planning on seeing the sunset from there or Jake's Rocks tomorrow evening until something else came up.

I never even knew about the Rimrock Loop that you did, only the shorter trail that goes from Kinzua Beach to the overlook area. Looking at maps on CalTopo and AllTrails, there appears to be a new trail that goes along the Allegheny Reservoir that I know wasn't there a few years ago. I used to bushwhack down to the white arrow below and never saw any trails down by the shore. Never saw any people on that scenic rocky beach either, only the occasional boater on the water.

Someday I'll finally get around to doing Morrison. With all those large boulders scattered about, it looks similar to other trail systems in the area that I've enjoyed like Tracy Ridge and Minister Creek.

I also didn't realize there was a trail along the shore.
