Camping near Azure Mtn or Santa Clara

Hoping to check out some of the climbing on Azure Mtn the end of this month. I searched the forum for info first but couldn't find much detail of what I'd like to know. Can anyone tell me:
1) The current condition of Keese Mills Rd/Blue Mtn Road? (dirt or paved? any washouts? etc...)
2) Are there plenty of free campsites along the way that are within the park that are accessible by car? if so, where should I keep an eye out for them?

Coming in a VW pop-up van so requires access by low clearance vehicle and relatively flat.
Thanks for any info!
