Mountain Biking trail to Mad Tom Lake

I took and awesome ride to Mad Tom Lake (access is on left hand side of Hooper Dooper Ave adjacent to a new camp being built a little over 1.1 miles from Route 365.....look for DEC signs warning NO ATVs as a key to the trail head) The trail is smooth and wide, with only about a half dozen muck areas to detour around in the 3 mile trek to Mad Tom. Illegal ATV use is present, but it looks like most are following the rules.....except for the last 0.1 mile approach to Mad Tom Lake....which by the look of it the ATVs probably won't try that again....what a mess....they even drove through the bog surrounding the lake! I'd suggest ditching your bikes at the Mad Tom turn off (3 miles down the trail) and bush whack the 0.1 mile on high ground to a place you can sit and look at the lake from a distance. This trek is more about the ride than the destination. If you are looking for a nice smooth trail to ride with rolling topography this is perfect. You can even make a large loop by connecting into the jeep tail (ATVs allow for property owners on the lakes) from Noboboro to Mill Creek Lake and ditch the bikes again for a scramble up the cliff for a lookout over Mill Creek and Black Creek Lakes (described in the Discover Guides). The DEC access off of the upper reaches of Hooper Dooper Ave cuts out the long climb from Remonda Road. This trail is a good novice to intermediate trail....check it out!
