Question Camping near Cascade?

I am planning a trip Aug 24-26 to hike Cascade Mountain. Where is the best place to tent camp? I'd prefer to be on a lake where we can canoe and fish. I also want to be someplace where we can have a campfire.

The ADK Loj is 9 miles from the trail head and has availability.

Thanks

Yes, I saw that online but the price was higher $40/$45 than I was hoping to pay so I figured I'd ask on here to see if there was anything else. I stayed at Lewey Lake Campground last weekend and it was only $20 per tent site.

I believe the closest state campground is Fish Creek Pond.

Thanks - I now have two new places to check out - Lewey Lake and Fish Creek. But I would have to plug the Loj too. Fish Creek offers 355 campsites! A tad crowded for my taste.

Fish Creek

I just made a reservation at Fish Creek. $53 for two nights and it's on the water so we can put our canoe in easily.

We'll see how it goes!

Enjoy.

I forgot about Wilmington Notch state campground.

It's much closer but doesn't have a lake for your canoe.

Thanks. I'm planning on starting the 46 peaks so hopefully will be going often. That looks like a good one to check out.
