Current snow cover?

Are there any local hikers in the Northville area that would share what the current snow cover is like? I want to do an early season trip from UB to Silver or Mud lake but not sure of how much snow is on the ground.

I am heading to Upper Benson today, and may be able to provide more details later.

But unless by "early season" you mean Mothers Day, you will be disappointed to know that the Adirondacks are getting more snow, not less. The calendar may say "spring," but conditions are still very wintry in the woods.

That trailhead is within a mile of Lapland Lake XC ski center. In addition to other info, their web site has updated snow depth daily (until they close).

That area got more snow than northern sections this winter particularly in Dec + Jan.

I can confirm that the red color on the map depicting deep snow is accurate for the Tug Hill region and western Adirondacks. It will be a long time before the snow is gone from the cover of the woods, and longer yet before the lowlands dry out. I expect a couple of ice caves in the region that have been loaded with snow will have ice well into July this year.

Just returned from that area from a winter camping trip. There's still over 2 feet of snow and conditions were excellent for snowshoeing or skiing! No sign of Spring just yet.

It was two feet where we packed it down, but I think it was close to 3 feet off trail. Crossing the ice on the creeks was not a problem.

Great snowshoe and ski conditions.

I did say there's still over 2 feet.
Conditions are indeed great for those of us who are still enjoying winter in the Adirondacks. I for one hope we get another month of winter to help make up for Dec & Jan.
Don't worry, bug season will be here soon.
