Accessing clamshell pond help

Several friends and I would like to head into clamshell pond and that general area for some spring fishing (We have 2-3 days), we are trying to decide if it makes the most sense to put in on hoel, go into turtle and then do the portage to clamshell? Any other ideas or experiences would be appreciated.

I would agree that this is probably the shortest way to Clamshell. I think the last stretch of the road to the hand launch on Hoel is seasonal though- so depending on the timing of your trip, parking (and getting your boats to the water) may be a bit of an issue.

When are you planning the trip for? Ice out may also be a consideration if you're thinking earlier in the spring.

Thanks for your reply! Wer thinking second week in May, figuring ice should be out (hopefully), if needed can adjust to the following week.

Odds are pretty good the ice will be out by then. Whether the access road to the launch is open by then will be a bit more iffy (assuming it actually is seasonal, I don't know 100% for sure on this).
