Peak Finder App

For those of us who don't get to access the Adirondacks as often as we'd like - or for those of us that just aren't as intimately familiar with the region - I wanted to recommend http://www.peakfinder.org. This is particularly useful for me as a photographer, as "virtual scouting" is what I spend most of my time on. The site has a simple, clean format. You can find peaks in their database or navigate to the location on a map. You're not going to get 3D renderings (use Google Earth for that), but you'll get a list of all the peaks visible. Here is an example from the summit of Macomb:

It also has a neat "binocular" feature where you can get information (elevation, GPS) on other peaks in view.

The best part? This also comes as an app for your mobile device which works off-line!
