Indian Lake area pond ice out

Please recommend a resource to determine when ice out is predicted on central Adirondack ponds. I know that the first week of May is the safest guess but hoping for sooner to shore fish.

This is a hard one! I'd search for webcams in your area and monitor them for ice out on known water bodies. It's going to take some legwork and time to correlate that with your favorite ponds.

We're all itching to get out and start fishing. Those of us who get out early will probably catch some. Turnover will then put the ponds into a sour mood for a bit and give the brookies a good case of lockjaw. Our best Spring fishing is reliably in May...

Get to know your local DEC Forest ranger or Econ officer. They would know the answer.

Here is the link for ilsnow website, mostly geared towards snowmobilers but great resource for weather in the Adirondacks especially Indian Lake area. They have a list of webcams in the area. Good luck.

I drove from utica to blue mountain lake last weekend along 28 and most of the waters were open. The ones that had ice was very little and large open spots. Id guess most are open by now.
