New Southern Re-Route

A friend and I are planning to hike the new southern section of the trail between CGV Rd. and the Benson Rd. Would it be easier to hike it N to S or S to N? Thanks!

I did this section last August. I hiked the NPT from Northville to the Benson Road, north. Most of it was "uphill" so it might be easier for you to hike south from the Benson Road terminus to Northville. The reason I hiked "uphill" was that I left a bike at the terminus so I could bike down the roads to Northville to my car.

Have fun!

There is a good legal tent site on Woods Lake, however, it's very accessible to car campers, so you may not want to stay there on a w/e night.

I'd go N-S as well; there's a long uphill out of CGV to the plateau where Mud Pond is.

Crossing W. Stony Creek may or may not be an issue with all the rain we've had. I did it in early May of '16 and had no issues. It was knee deep at worst, but a bit cold. Plans are for a bridge someday.
