Nice pics, those yurts have a concrete foundation?

From a foundation perspective, they were essentially very much like a lean-to: a wooden platform raised off the ground. There was a small crawlspace revealed on the rear side. The propane heater kept the yurt admirably warm, but the floor was cold the entire weekend. I handled that by wearing slippers.

Yeah that was basically my question because if it wasn't raised that floor wouldn't last long. Great pics thannks for sharing. I would love to build one.

Justin, Again, you have consistently the best stack of firewood as I have ever witnessed. You like that part of camping don't cha. Objectives and goals are more easily defined and reached than say contracting, no? In this picture I see a tired but satisfied man. Sleep well!

By chance do you know how long ago this photo was taken? Years ago I was hiking through to Curtis pond and came across this very site. Not a person was around and I assumed it was a hunting camp set up for deer season.

October 2008.

There was no one home that day either.

Hedgehog campsite is a wonderful location. Only wish I had a chance to speak with those folks. That was the fall of 2008 that I was there. Thanks for the info Bill! I wonder if they took any deer that year?

Nice Justin! I like the pedestal for your campfire - that's clever!

Some Campsite photos

I went a long time without bothering to take photos of my campsites before realizing that those are important memories that need to be captured. Where we camped and the surrounding views are an integral part of every backcountry experience.

Here are a few.

Secret spot from this weekend:

Bluebird skies, 50's and 60's, minimal bugs (got bit by two mosquitoes) and surprisingly no one else out and around.

Not in the Adirondacks but one of the many beautiful state forests in New York.
